Carbon Reduction Plan.

Astralis Carbon Reduction Plan

Reporting Period: 1st May 2024 – 30th April 2025

Baseline Year: 2024

Commitment to Achieving Net Zero

Astralis is committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2040.As a newly formed business (incorporated in May 2024), we are at the beginning of our carbon reduction journey. We have made sustainability a core part of our operations and are embedding environmental accountability into every process from the outset.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

This is Astralis’ first year of carbon reporting. The baseline reporting year is 2024. Although this Carbon Reduction Plan is structured for the period 1st May 2024 – 30th April 2025, most of the data collected relates to activity between mid-August and December 2024, following our move into our permanent facility. Some data, such as water usage, continues into early 2025. This reflects the best available information at this early stage of our operation. A complete 12-month dataset will be provided in future reports as our monitoring and data maturity progresses. However, as Astralis only moved into its current facility at Horizon Business Park in mid-August 2024, some Scope 2 and Scope 3 figures (e.g. water usage) may reflect a partial year. These will be fully represented in subsequent reporting periods as operations stabilise and data collection becomes more comprehensive. The baseline reporting year is 2024. All emissions data provided below has been measured for the period 1st May 2024 – 30th April 2025.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

Astralis operates from a facility within the Horizon Business Park, part of the Horizon 120 development in Great Notley, Essex. The site has been purpose-built to prioritise sustainability, featuring an EPC Rating of ‘A’, onsite PV solar panels, EV charging infrastructure, a net zero carbon build specification, and sustainable construction materials. These attributes directly support our carbon reduction goals and enable us to operate with significantly reduced environmental impact.

In the next 12 months, Astralis will implement the following initiatives:

  • Encourage car sharing and low-emission travel options among employees to reduce commuting-related emissions
  • Switch to a renewable energy tariff for electricity at our Horizon Business Park facility
  • Conduct a full energy efficiency review of lighting, heating, and cooling systems
  • Begin transition of our vehicle fleet to hybrid or electric
  • Formalise waste management contracts to ensure increased recycling and track reduction
  • Increase staff awareness through sustainability training and internal campaigns
  • Work with Positive Planet to assist in developing a longer-term Carbon Reduction Strategy

As a dedicated IT Asset Disposal and Lifecycle Services provider, our entire operational ethos is built around reducing environmental impact through the redeployment, reuse, repair, and resale of IT equipment. Recycling is always treated as a last resort. We proactively harvest parts for reuse and conduct annual audits of our downstream partners to ensure they align with our stringent environmental standards and zero-landfill commitment. We are also exploring partnerships, including with the Royal Mint, to support circular economy efforts by extracting valuable materials from end-of-life IT equipment.Astralis is certified to ISO 14001 and is registered with the Environment Agency as a waste carrier and broker. These accreditations underpin our operational commitment to responsible environmental management and regulatory compliance. Our carbon reduction strategy also supports wider social value outcomes. By extending the usable life of IT equipment, reducing waste, and operating ethically within the circular economy, Astralis helps to reduce digital exclusion, support community-based reuse, and contribute to the local green economy. These principles are embedded into our delivery model, ensuring that environmental progress delivers broader societal benefit. Astralis has a dedicated internal ESG team responsible for reviewing and updating this Carbon Reduction Plan annually. This team also promotes staff engagement in sustainability across the business, encouraging shared ownership of our goals and continuous improvement in how we measure and reduce emissions. This Carbon Reduction Plan will be published and clearly signposted on our UK website at: [insert final URL here]. Astralis has reported against the required subset of Scope 3 categories, including: employee commuting, business travel, and waste generated in operations. Upstream and downstream transportation and distribution are currently not applicable but will be reviewed annually.
